Join Flotilla 14-08

The Coast Guard Auxiliary is a uniformed volunteer civilian organization that is part of "Team Coast Guard."  Membership is open to any citizen of the United States, who is 17 years of age or older, in good moral standing, and has no felony convictions.  Vessel ownership or interest in boating is desired but not mandatory.  Membership is also open to all current active duty personnel, reserves, or retired military personnel.

Flotilla 14-08 consists of people from many different walks of life.  Our ranks include (but are by no means limited to) retired military and police officers, students, security guards, mechanics, teachers, engineers, computer technicians, auto workers.  Male, female, young, old - we encompass many walks of life, and could most likely find ways to put your specific skills and talents to work for the U.S. Coast Guard.  We are a small but active flotilla, serving the Great Lakes waterways between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.

As a member you may wear uniforms similar to those of the US Coast Guard. You may wear Auxiliary devices and insignia of the present or highest past office to which you were elected, as well as  prior military decorations that you earned.  You will be afforded the opportunity to increase your boating skills, receive advanced training, teach boating courses to others, assist the US Coast Guard in all their functions except Law Enforcement and Direct Military Operations.

As an Auxiliarist you can be involved in Port Safety and Security, Public Affairs, Recreational Boating Safety, Recruiting, Search and Rescue, Vessel Inspections, Waterway Management, Aviation, and many other areas of the Coast Guard and Auxiliary.  You are encouraged to read what we are about on other pages of this web site.  If you are interested in joining us, email our Personnel Services (PS) officer or any other Officer for more information.
